The IDM Film Commission Südtirol goes to Venice! Two of the projects the Commission supported will be featured at the 80th Venice Film Festival: Lubo, by Giorgio Diritti, was selected as a Competition Title, while Vermiglio, the mountain bride, by South Tyrolean Maura Delpero, was selected for the Venice Gap-Financing Market.

Lubo, directed by Giorgio Diritti, will celebrate its world premiere on 7 September at the Venice Film Festival and compete for the Golden Lion. The feature film, inspired by the novel Il Seminatore by Mario Cavatore, was shot for around three weeks in November 2022 in South Tyrol, mostly in Malga Fane as well as across other locations such as Villabassa, Egna, Magrè sulla Strada del Vino, and Merano. The IDM Film Commission Südtirol supported the project during its production phase. Lubo was produced by Indiana Production, Aranciafilm with Rai Cinema, Hugofilm Features and Proxima Milano in cooperation with RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera SRG/SSR.

Vermiglio, the mountain bride, the second feature film by South Tyrolean director Maura Delpero, was selected together with another 61 projects for the Gap-Financing Market, organised between 1 and 3 September as part of the Venice Production Bridge. The Market is an opportunity to close a film’s financing during its final development and funding stages, representing the first step towards actual filming. Delpero’s film was supported by the IDM Film Commission Südtirol during its development and production phases. It recounts the life of three sisters in a mountain village after World War II and is produced by Cinedora (Italy) with Rai Cinema, Charades Productions (Frace), and Versus (Belgium).
