IDM supports both cinema and television projects with a total funding budget of 4.5 million euros a year. Film producers can apply for funding regardless of where they are based. IDM advises and supports production companies throughout the funding process – from the initial consultation and submission of the application to the approval of the grant, project progress monitoring and payment of the funds. Applications should be submitted using the standardised online application portal.
IDM prepares the submitted projects for the technical examination by an independent expert committee. This committee reviews and appraises the projects together with IDM and evaluates their cultural, content-related and economic value. On the basis of the formulated funding recommendation, IDM decides on the granting of contributions for film and TV funding. During this process, we place particular emphasis on the investments which the production companies are planning to make in South Tyrol to help raise the region’s profile as a film location.
Mandatory consulting and online application
Funding decision: evaluation and decision by the South Tyrol Provincial Government, acceptance or rejection of funding application
Funding agreement: unilateral declaration of commitment
Payment of first funding instalments: dependent on progress of project
Final audit of costs after completion of project
Payment of final funding instalment after positive audit of project
(above all with respect to fulfilment of the regional effect)
Applications must be made online and can only be submitted following a mandatory consultation with IDM. We generally process all complete applications within seven weeks. You can submit your application whenever you wish, but please note that it will only be considered after the next application deadline.
