The Locarno Film Festival celebrates its 76th edition, which took place between 2 and 12 August 2023. The IDM Film Commission Südtirol participated in the Industry Market Locarno Pro as well as being represented by a documentary it supported: Vista Mare, which saw its world premiere at the Festival.
The IDM Film Commission Südtirol attended the Locarno Film Festival and, just like the previous year, it showcased South Tyrolean filming support, locations, and financing opportunities during the “Locarno Pro”. The Commission was also joined by a delegation of South Tyrolean filmmakers: Markus Frings from Moviemento and Roberto Cavallini from Albolina.
The Locarno Film Festival’s highlight was the world premiere of Vista Mare, directed by South Tyrolean power duo Julia Gutweniger and Florian Kofler from Merano during the “Semaine de la Critique” on 8 August 2023. The documentary was supported by the IDM Film Commission Südtirol. It depicts the life of people working in tourism on the Adriatic Coast and was produced by Albolina Film (Bolzano) and Eutopiafilm (Innsbruck).
