Discovering South Tyrol: IDM’s Location Scouting Program

Reading time

This week, Lieblingsfilm – a Munich-based production company – took part in IDM’s Location Scouting Program. It toured South Tyrol to find locations for its new TV period piece it aims to film in co-production with Degeto Film. Producer Robert Marciniak, set designer Johannes Sternagel, and executive producer Susanne Hildebrand were accompanied by South Tyrolean Location Scout and outdoor specialist Veit Pircher and visited Val Senales, Val Passiria and Plan, and Dobbiaco and its surroundings.

The IDM Scouting Program was developed for production companies and executive producers whose films or series are in a pre-production phase. They see South Tyrol as a potential filming location and would like to know more about the regional’s potential when it comes to shooting their projects. They are entrusted to the IDM Film Commission and accompanied by a local Location Scout on a tour of South Tyrol, which lasts no longer than three days, to visit different sites.

Take a look at some snapshots of the scouting experience with Lieblingsfilm.

“We discovered South Tyrol’s impressive and varied mountainous landscape during our tour of the region. On our quest to find locations for our TV period piece, we toured the breathtaking Val Passiria, the untamed wilderness of the valleys stretching at the foot of the Ortles Mountain, and the Dolomites in Alta Pusteria.”
