Third call: nine film projects, including five of from South Tyrol

A total of nine projects are being supported in this year’s third call. Three feature films, four documentaries, and two short films were chosen to receive funding from the IDM Film Commission Südtirol. The respective cast and crew will visit South Tyrol/Südtirol for a combined total of approx. 34 days of shooting. The selected projects include a German production, an Austrian project, one from Great Britain, and six projects from Italy, with five of those hailing from South Tyrol.

A total of six projects will receive production funding: the moving dramas EDEN SONATE by Ronny Trocker, produced by Dugong, Rome, and zischlermann filmproduktion, Berlin; THE ICE TOWER by Lucile Hadzihalilovic, which tells the story of the orphan girl Jeanne; and THE LAST SUMMER by director João Nuno Pinto, produced by Wonder Maria Filmes, Lisbon, and Albolina, Bolzano/Bozen. Further selected projects include the documentaries IM DIENSTE DER KUNST, directed by Jochen Unterhofer, which sheds some light on the topic of art restoration, and FROM DAY TO DAY (AT), the story of two men and their quest for hope as told by Maximilian Gurschler. The story of one of the most influential Italian actors, MONICA VITTI – THE WOMAN WITH THE GUN, produced by Florianfilm, Cologne, and Helios Sustainable Films, Bolzano, completes the selection of projects receiving production funding.

The documentary A MANO A MANO by Erald Dika will receive funding for pre-production activities from IDM Südtirol – Alto Adige. A portrait of women in the circus industry, the project is produced by Korabi Società Cooperativa, Bolzano.

The short film funding of the third call of this year goes to the drama ROSA ALCHEMICA by director Pietro Floris, produced by Undone Theatre, Orpington. The film recounts surreal occurrences. And the last addition to the call selection is TORINO, TORINO by Bernadette Weber. This documentary short film is produced by Abisso Studio, Visioni and Vasoldsberg, and tells the story of a son who discovers a whole new side to his father’s history.
