And action! First call of 2024: IDM Film Commission funds eleven film projects

In the first call of 2024, IDM Film Commission supports eleven projects. Seven projects from Italy, six of them from South Tyrol, three from Germany, and one project from Austria will come to South Tyrol/Südtirol for a combined total of 24 days of shooting.

Five projects will receive production funding: Three decades after filming the first part in the Dolomites, Sylvester Stallone aka Gabe Walker will return to South Tyrol to shoot Jean-François Richet’s CLIFFHANGER 2. Production of the action drama will be run by Supernix Austria, Supernix Germany, and Rocket Science Cliffhanger (UK). Sven Unterwaldt’s WOODWALKERS 2, the second instalment of the trilogy of the same name based on the successful series of books by author Katja Brandes, will be produced by blue eyes Fiction (Germany), DOR Film (Austria), Filmvergnügen (Wiesen/Prati, Italy) and Studiocanal Film (Germany). DETECTIVE VON FOCK, a historical TV crime show by Aurun Tamm is produced by 360 Media OÜ (Estonia), Movie.mento (Bolzano/Bozen, Italy) and Bergmane Production (Latvia) and follows the story of Paul von Fock, who is thrust into the role of detective. Funding also goes to two documentaries: KAMPF GEGEN DIE 'NDRANGHETA by Stefano Strocchi, produced by Gebrüder Beetz Filmproduktion Berlin (Germany), and HEADSHOTS – ANJA NIEDRINGHAUS, FOTOGRAFIN by Sonya Winterberg, produced by Bildersturm Filmproduktion (Germany).

Four documentary projects will receive funding during the preparation for production: ÖTZI – THE ICEMAN by Yuri Massaro features a team of archaeologists running an unprecedented archaeological experiment almost 5,000 years after Ötzi’s mysterious death STEP ACROSS THE BORDER by Martina Mahlknecht and Martin Prinoth, produced by TÒSU Film (Germany), takes viewers on the journey of people crossing the border both legally and illegally and of those charged with protecting those borders. BASIS – LA BASE by Vittorio Curzel delves into the history of an old military base—the documentary is produced by Chorus Film Factory (Trient/Trento, Italy) Director Nuno Escudeiro returns to his home country of Portugal to confront his own identity in PROJECTO FOGO produced by Miramonte Film (Bolzano/Bozen, Italy).

In addition, two short films will receive funding: Stefania Accettulli’s AURA, the story of a ruthless judoka’s change in life produced by Beagle Media (Noci, Italy), and ALFIO by Marianna Pasina, a film produced by Frabiatofilm (Bolzano/Bozen, Italy) portraying a man gradually losing his spirit.
