Eva-Maria
Lukas LadnerBecause of spastic polio, Eva-Maria has been in a wheelchair since she can think. Her whole life was tainted by her struggle to be accepted as a full member of society. But in her late 30s, she dares to take a courageous step: she wants to become a mother. Supported by her family and accompanied by her personal assistants, she tackles her "project child". The high costs and low chances of success are not able to stop her. It will take her several attempts before she finally becomes pregnant. But the journey has only just begun. No matter how well prepared they all may be, everything turns out differently. Their world is turned upside down, beside exhaustion; their relationships prove to be a source of conflict. Documented by one of her assistants, this film provides an unusually intimate insight into a life beyond conventional family planning.
