Synopsis

The film "The Great Pinnacle" (working title) will present in a historically authentic way the compelling story of how climbing in the Alps began. In the form of period re-enactments, we accompany the pioneers of 1869 on their first ascent to the summit, and again when in the following decades new and ever-more difficult routes are climbed. The focus will be placed on how these pioneers accomplished the near-impossible with only the simplest means, and the technical equipment of the era. And who better to narrate this epic story than the most famous climber and mountaineer of our time: Reinhold Messner.
