Ben von Grafenstein was born in Germany, in 1975. He began his career as a feature film and documentary editor and edited the award-winning films of director Johannes Naber. In 2000 he began studying “Scenic Film Direction” at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Since 2006 he has worked as a writer/director. His films Blindflug and Kasimir and Karoline were shown at international film festivals such as the Berlinale and Munich IFF. His last film Die Ungewollten - Die Irrfahrt der St. Louis was nominated for the Banff Rockie Awards 2020 in the category of TV Movie and received the renowned Robert Geisendoerfer Preis in the fall of 2021.
