Von Männern und Vätern is a film about one of the greatest, ever evolving tales of humankind - the role of the sexes. The general disappearance of manual labour and the entry of women into traditionally male domains in working and private life, as well as newly discovered possibilities for self-realisation, require a new identification of the role of the male sex.
What does it mean to be a man today? How is it possible to juggle job, career and personal interests and position oneself as a man in the family and with a partner? What were our fathers like and what will our sons say about us?
In the film we talk with men about men, fathers and sons; about friends and enemies, role models, teachers and competitors; about current challenges, past dreams and future hopes. All of these meetings and discussions take place against the varied backdrop of the Alpine region.
