Synopsis

In 1915, a young woman from South Tirol wants to fight in the war. She dresses as a man and becomes the Emperor's first female soldier. She is severely wounded in the war and is later honored as "The Girl Hero of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo'". She comes to the attention of the Nazis and they instrumentalize her in their war preparations. After the war, many people hold her in high esteem. In the late 1950's, the Austrian Governor and later Chancellor, Josef Klaus award her a medal of honor. This documentary will uncover the mystery of the woman who achieved such an iconic war hero status.
