Piccola Patria / Small Homeland

Alessandro Rossetto, 2012
Synopsis

Everyone in this small homeland has something to hide: Luisa and Renata conceal their sensual abyss and how they blackmail the world. Luisa and the young Albanian named Bilal hide their love; Menon, the man watching them, disguises his perverted passions and his plan for revenge; Franco, Luisa's father, conceals his frustration and prejudice; while the anonymous suburbs hide their emptiness and a certain degree of tenderness. The blackmail that is nailing Menon and ruining his respectability unleashes a series of unexpected events. Menon and Franco experience male solidarity and misunderstandings, false assurances and a blinding desire for revenge. Finally the loving, friendly and sexual game takes on the gloomy and tragic shape of a reality that has lost any trace of spontaneousness and irresponsibility, subjected to models and categories not recognized by someone so young. Luisa, Renata and Bilal risk losing themselves, losing those they love and even risk losing their own lives.
