Mord am Unmöglichen

Mord am Unmöglichen

Reinhold Messner , 2018
Synopsis

Reinhold Messner traces the development of mountaineering, from the alpinism of conquest (1786 - 1870), via the alpinism of difficulty (1870 -1930), and heroic alpinism (1930 - 1960), down to the alpinism of renunciation. The last phase - piste alpinism - is illustrated by way of Mount Everest as a tourist destination and the hype around the via ferratas of the Dolomites. There is no such thing as right or wrong alpinism. Just like traditional mountaineering began 250 years ago, so it remains a challenge to this day – in all the mountain ranges of the world. The danger and adventure associated with it are carried forward through the deeds and the stories of those who have survived. Today, mountaineering is a global phenomenon and accessible to millions of people. Reinhold Messner explains how this fascinating confrontation with the mountains, in the form of sport, tourism, or the ultimate self-test, has split up into many disciplines, and thus is passed on to the next generation...
