Gerald Salmina, 2017The life and carreer of Hans Kammerlander is full of fascinating and most dramatic stories. As an alpinist he is undoubtingly a living legend. He was raised at a little farm in South Tyrol. Right there he had his first alpine adventures and from there he set out to discover the world. Soon Hans was confronted with loss and death. At Mt. Manaslu he lost two of his best friends. Friedl Mutschlechner and Carlo Großrubatscher, themselfs great mountaineers, did not return from Manaslu. This event left deep marks in Hans Kammerlanders inside, he even considered giving up what he loves most, - climbing mountains. For some reasons Hans never had the motivation to return to Manaslu, to bitter and painfull the memories were stuck in him. Unfortunately Hans was involved in a car accident, he was convicted guilty for drunk driving, but not for causing the accident. A young man lost his life that night. Hans wants to confront these horrors and together with Stephan Keck he will return to Manaslu.
