Synopsis

The film uses historic image material, and in particular also accounts by surviving "pioneers" and their descendants, in an attempt to explain how the lumberjacks and their families from the cold, barren Tyrolean Alps were accepted on the sunny island of Rhodes (ruled by Italian fascism), how they lived there, and how they later came to experience the turmoils of war and the Option Agreement. As such, this film is a little piece of the puzzle that is the turbulent history of South Tyrol.
