Fräulein

Fräulein

Caterina Carone
Synopsis

Regina is forty-five and she is what people call a Fräulein: no husband nor children, apparently strong, quite sharp and sarcastic, bad-tempered and stubborn. She is the owner of a hotel that has been closed for years, where she lives with Marilyn, a white hen with an aristocratic bearing. Her days go by assisting some elderly from the village. The only distractions in her daily routine are the guided meditation tapes and the weekly cards game with Hanna and Nina. In her days no changes seem to be expected, until one day, after the radio has warned about the arrival of a solar storm, a mysterious tourist in his sixties, called Walter Bonelli, enters unexpectedly her life insisting on staying at her hotel. While in the village there are more and more electrical blackouts and a strange sensation of uncertainty is getting around among people, the arrival of the tourist triggers a much stronger storm in Regina's soul, radically and definitively turning upside down her own certainties.
