Synopsis

This short art-movie written by author, theatre and moviemaker Dietmar Gamper raises elementary questions about the meaning of humanity and being human itself. The movie shows four characters caught in time and space in some unknown place, somewhere between this side and the beyond, between conscious- and unconsciousness, looking for the truth and the sense of life itself. A fifth person comes along and meets the four previously mentioned characters,
who seem to be stuck there. In each encounter, the "new" becomes a reflection of the person encountered and his or her idea of life, and of their truth and condition there in the aforementioned undefined place. The fifth person reacts according to everything that the other four unconsciously project onto him or her. The characters of the "prisoners" are as different as their reactions to the "new". The "prisoners" only see what they are able to see in the newcomer and react too humanly to it: with confusion, fear and panic, with joy and curiosity with glorification up to idolatry; in the hope that they are finally released from this state of uncertainty, dependence and distraction. The situation escalates before it is resolved. A murder is committed in the heat of the moment. At the end of the film, everything starts all over again. Thus the film tells a cycle, a constant repetition of the same patterns. Maybe the solution is not to be seeked on the outside?
