Trinkstube
Description
The Trinkstube, a medieval tavern in Brunico (Bruneck), is a walk-in, barrel-vaulted space painted with frescoes that was established in 1526 in the building that now houses the Apotheke von Zieglauer pharmacy. This building is now located in the centre of Brunico’s Gasse alleyways. The foundations of the structure date back to the mid-thirteenth century, and thus fall within the period in which a settlement called apud Bruneke is first mentioned (1256). The tavern was a venue for social gatherings of the patrician nobility and bourgeois families. It is still very well preserved today.
