BFFB calling: lights, camera, South Tyrol

The 37th edition of the Bolzano Film Festival will be held from 12 to 21 April — featuring Vincenzo Bugno as artistic director for the second time, this year’s festival will centre around indigenous movies from Brazil. The festival’s programme includes six films supported by the IDM Film Commission.

The Mountain Bride

The former pilgrims’ hostel St. Florian near Laag/Laghetti in the municipality of Neumarkt/Egna is one of the locations where Bolzano/Bozen-born director Maura Delpero’s new film is being shot. Vermiglio o la sposa di montagna tells a story set apart from the fronts of the Second World War that is both shocking and touching.

And action! First call of 2024: IDM Film Commission funds eleven film projects

In the first call of 2024, IDM Film Commission supports eleven projects. Seven projects from Italy, six of them from South Tyrol, three from Germany, and one project from Austria will come to South Tyrol/Südtirol for a combined total of 24 days of shooting.

Zweitland – three countries come together

Hans Hofer, director and screenwriter from Vinschgau/Val Venosta, ventures into a new genre, capturing his first documentary and shooting—for the first time ever—in South Tyrol. Spectacular shots of nature and emotional portraits bring to life the story of Stilfserjochstraße, the Passo Stelvio mountain pass road, and the impact it has had on the development of the region. In an interview with TAKE magazine, Hofer tells us how his own roots weave into the narrative.

Third call: nine film projects, including five of from South Tyrol

A total of nine projects are being supported in this year’s third call. Three feature films, four documentaries, and two short films were chosen to receive funding from the IDM Film Commission Südtirol.

Some Like it International

Two IDM films at the Venice Film Festival

The IDM Film Commission Südtirol goes to Venice! Two of the projects the Commission supported will be featured at the 80th Venice Film Festival: Lubo, by Giorgio Diritti, was selected as a Competition Title, while Vermiglio, the mountain bride, by South Tyrolean Maura Delpero, was selected for the Venice Gap-Financing Market.
